By the Way

There is a new Terminator Salvation trailer and its at the bottom of the page.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Now when I first saw the trailers for this movie I thought to myself, this is one of the movies that will win awards. Sure enough, last week the Golden Globe nominees came out and Benjamin Button was nominated for five awards including best film. So I decided, even though at the time the film looked kinda weird, to go check this one out. I wasn't disappointed. The story is a very interesting one. A baby is born an old man and he grows younger with age. The fun thing about this plot is you get to see what he went through in terms of how people treated him. The sad part is that Benjamin sees many people that were close to him get older and eventually die. The movie is set at the end of World War 1 and ends during World War 2. This is strictly a romance drama not an action movie. There is one scene where Benjamin is on a ship that is in combat with a Japanese submarine. It was hard to find the message in this film but after I though about it I realized there was several times in the movie where people said that you never know what will happen to you the next day so live your life while you can. The thing is, the message is for the most part empty because in no way does the film say how to live your life in a good way. Some might come out of the movie and think that the message means that they should do anything and everything they want because they might not have the chance the next day. On the other hand, the acting was great and the make-up was amazing. The way they made everyone look older, and in Benjamin's case younger, was out standing. For example, Daisy(Benjamin's love interest) is a ten year old girl in the beginning and an eighty year old woman in the end and throughout the movie you could tell she was getting older and older. The same can be seen with Benjamin except he grow younger and younger until he is only a baby. This movie was definitely one my top five list for best movies of this year. 9 out of 10.

New Moon Update!

Just a couple facts about the upcoming movie New Moon. Summit Entertainment is fast-tracking the movie so it is slated to open November 20th of next year. This is one of the reasons Catherine Hardwicke(director) left Summit. The new director, Chris Weitz, has taken the job as the new director and he has eight months to make this movie...not good. Taylor Lautner(Jacob) will not return for the sequel as well. The studio said they wanted a taller bulkier Jacob and I guess they are too cheap to use CGI. Michael Copon( Bring It On: In It to Win It, Scorpion King 2) is pushing for the roll of Jacob in the next film and Ben Barnes(Prince Caspian) is pushing for the roll of Aro. With a fifty million dollar budget, this has hopes to be a much better movie than the first.

The Week of December 12th

Hooray! The Holiday Season is here. The movies that will win Academy Awards will be coming out soon, even though I probably won't even know about them like last year. The posting may slow down a bit this month as I am preparing for Christmas and the vacation which I will make good use of(Guitar Hero). Wonderful things are already happening. The Dark Knight comes out tomorrow(YEAH!!) and The Day The Earth Stood Still comes on Friday which includes the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer.
BOX OFFICE
  1. Four Christmases-$18.2M
  2. Twilight-13.2M
  3. Bolt-9.7M
  4. Australia-7M
  5. Quantum of Solace-6.6M

-Hugh Jackman has already told the news that sequels to the new Wolverine movie are pretty much happening because of the projected giant success the movie will have. That's great for me cause really, who can get enough Wolverine.

-It has been confirmed that Catherine Hardwicke the director of Twilight, will not return to direct the sequel New Moon. Hopefully that's a good thing because Twilight wasn't that good in terms of music and the camera shooting.
