Reviews

I saw several movies this weekend. The first was very good and the second was not so hot.

GRAN TORINO

I've actually never seen a movie with Clint Eastwood in it and this movie greatly encouraged me to do so. Gran Torino was a great movie about a hard-hearted man who is saddened by the death of his wife. The movie had great acting by Clint Eastwood, it had a good amount of comedy, and a good meaning of self-sacrifice. The movie shows Walt's relationship with a boy who works for him. As the boy helps Walt(Clint Eastwood), Walt teaches him things like manners, how to get a job, and how to be a man. As the movie goes on, Walt tries to protect the boy from the gangs and makes sure he doesn't let himself join one by means of peer-pressure. Eventually, things get serious and Walt has to take things into his own hands. Thanks to the different gangs in this movie the language is very strong consisting of mostly the f-bomb and other racial phrases. There isn't that much violence in this movie but in certain intense scenes there is a good amount of blood shown. Overall, I give it a 9 out of 10.

PAUL BLART: MALL COP

Why I went to see this, I really don't know. I was invited by some friends and I said yes. There really isn't much to say here. This is simply a movie that ha little laughs here and there but only one or two things that made me really chuckle. The storyline was clever in my opinion. A mall security guard gets locked in a mall while it's being robbed and he tries to stop them. The robbers were a little over the top in terms of agility. I thought I was watching X-Men vs. the Unstoppable Paul Fart uh I mean Blart. Anyways, the little kids will like it, the teenagers and adults probably won't. Paul Fart here, couldn't stand up to Clint Eastwood. 4 out of 10.

The Dark Knight

Yes the best movie of the year, The Dark Knight, will be returning to IMAX theaters across the nation this Friday the 23. The movie made $997 million by the time it left theaters. Hopefully by the time it leaves IMAX it will have gained over one billion I have one word for everyone...Fandango.

Hello 2009

*Before you read this I wish to say that in no way do I literally mean gay when I use it in this post. I AM NOT saying that people that the people in this article are gay.
The new year is here! A new year of great movies . Just to name a few, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Watchmen, Terminator Salvation, Harry Potter 6, G.I Joe, Star Trek, Public Enemies, New Moon, and Sherlock Holmes. Yeah that was just a few. The Box Office over the Holidays were dominated by Benjamin Button and Valkyrie and is now being ruled by Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino. Sadly most of the movies that come out now through the middle of March suck. Oh well hopefully there will be a few good ones.
-The Watchmen case is over. Fox and Warner Brothers have reached an agreement with the movie. The settlement basically includes Fox getting the majority of the money the movie will make. Thankfully, the movie will still come out on March 6th.
-Taylor Lautner, who plays the werewolf named Jacob in the Twilight movies, will be returning for the sequel New Moon. Stephanie Myer, the author of the books, has confirmed this on her website. Great, now I have to hear all the fan-girls drooling over his face again.
-TO MY GREAT AND HIGHEST DISAPPOINTMENT...Sam L. Jackson will not be returning to play the head of Shield, Nick Fury, in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, or any other Marvel movie. Are you kidding me? Sam Jackson said that Marvel wouldn't give him the as much money as he wanted. How could you let so many fans down like that. He already did a cameo as Nick Fury at the end of the first Iron Man. So he'll star in The Spirit which was a crap comic book movie but he won't be a part of a HUGE block-buster franchise that he could star in for a very long time? He has just left my favorite actors list and is now placed in the "Gay actors that have let me down" list.
-J.K Simmons A.K.A. J. Jonah Jamenson in the Spider-Man series said that filming for the next Spider Man movie will start next year. Marvel is pushing for a May 2011 release. I would love for that to happen because 2011 is already big year for Marvel with the release of Captain America and The Avengers.

Watchmen Update

Well Warner Brothers sure did screw it up this time. I'm sure most of you know that Warner Brothers is making a new comic book movie titled Watchmen. Well there was one very important thing that the studio FORGOT to do before making the film...make sure they actually had the rights to it! For crying out loud how stupid can you get. Well it turns of that 20th Century Fox has the rights for this film and naturally, they sued Warner Brothers. So eventually the judge reported that Fox will win the trial...of course. 20th Century Fox did say that they intend to fight for the rights but the chances of success are slim. So what does this mean for the film? Well it most likely means that the two studious will make a deal to divvy up the money. It would be crazy if the film was canceled entirely. However, I'm sure that the movie will not come out on it's current release date, March sixth.
